Welcome to Term 3. A few things to start the term:
· Yes I am back !! I had a fantastic trip. It was very adventurous! I saw lots, ate lots and learnt lots. Thank you for the comments on our blog, it was lovely to keep up to date even though I was on the other side of the world.
· On Monday, Samantha O’Sullivan, a student teacher is starting in Room 5 for 4 weeks. Samantha is in her 3rd
year at Massey University. We look forward to welcoming her to the Wicked Room 5!
· A reminder that your child will bring home reading homework most nights. Can you please encourage and support your child with his/her reading. Your child will have a small notebook in his/her reading folder. In this notebook your child needs to write the date, the title of the book they read that day and your signature to indicate your child has read his/her book to you. We are placing a major focus on understanding the story, so if you could reinforce that at home, that would be very beneficial.
· This Friday will be Room 5’s first swimming lesson at Dudley Pool! Please remember to name everything your child takes to the pool, including their towel, togs, bag, clothes, etc. A lot of people use those changing rooms!
· Thank you everyone for getting the swimming payment in on time. Still waiting for 2 payments. Also thank you to everyone who offered to help out with the transport. It’s always a mission trying the get the numbers right, but I have sent home notices with the dates we need your help with transport. If you’re not sure or if you’re unable to drive for whatever reason, please let me know a.s.a.p. so I can try and organise something else. Those parents who are driving, if you could be at Room 5 by 1.30 that would be fantastic.
· Thank you for visiting our blog. Please remember the main reason for our blog is for you, your family and friends, wherever in the world they may be, to be part of your child’s learning experience. The more comments and interaction created through the blog, the more meaning it will have for the children in Room 5.
· Our Room 5 blog is also a great learning tool. You will find a number of links for maths games and now also literacy games. Our blog address is: http://ms-ashford.blogspot.com/ , if you need further information regarding our blog, please feel free to contact me.
· I’m sure you would’ve noticed it’s pretty cold at the moment therefore please make sure your child brings his/her sweatshirt or jacket everyday! Also a healthy breakfast, morning tea and lunch to keep him/her going. We are also encouraging children to wash their hands thoroughly before touching their food, after sneezing etc.
